Orlando movers have a busy season and a slow season, and when you schedule your move can change the price by 20% or more. If you have flexibility, here’s when to aim for — and when to avoid.
The three factors that drive Orlando moving pricing
- Demand. Summer is peak moving season nationally. In Orlando specifically, summer + back-to-school + military PCS moves create a capacity crunch.
- Weather. Central Florida summers are brutal — 90°+ with 80%+ humidity — which makes crews slower and your belongings harder on (leather, paper, electronics).
- Hurricane season. June 1 to November 30. Not a reason to avoid all summer moves, but something to plan around.
Month-by-month in Orlando
- January: Cheapest month. Low demand, cool weather, no hurricanes. Best availability. Up to 25% off peak pricing.
- February: Also excellent. Similar to January. Valentine’s weekend is slow for moves — great if you can swing it.
- March: Prices start creeping up as spring buyers close on homes. Still a good window.
- April: Good. Last easy month before summer demand starts.
- May: Demand rises. End of the school year triggers lots of family moves.
- June: Peak begins. Heat + humidity arrives. Hurricane season starts June 1 — early season risk is low, but it exists.
- July: The hardest month. Peak demand, peak heat, peak humidity. Prices 15–20% above off-season. Book 4+ weeks out.
- August: Still peak. Back-to-school moves in late August add to demand.
- September: Demand tapers. Heat still high. Hurricane risk highest in September.
- October: Excellent. Weather cools, demand drops, pricing softens. Favorite month for knowing professionals.
- November: Also excellent. First half of the month is ideal. Thanksgiving week is dead.
- December: First three weeks are cheap and easy. Last week is a dead zone — movers take holiday time off.
The cheapest day of the week
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the slowest days for Orlando movers — therefore the cheapest. Friday afternoons and Saturdays are the busiest and sometimes carry a premium.
Within any month, the first and last week (lease turnovers) book first. The second and third weeks of the month have more availability and better pricing.
How to move during hurricane season safely
If you must move June–November:
- Watch NOAA forecasts starting 5 days before your move date
- Have a backup date with your mover (most will accommodate weather-forced reschedules)
- Avoid scheduling moves right before a storm even if it’s not projected to hit
- If a storm is in the Gulf, reschedule. Don’t try to finish a move in deteriorating conditions
- Get your belongings off trucks and into the destination before any evacuation order
The best weeks of the year for an Orlando move
If you want the absolute best combination of weather, pricing, and crew availability in Orlando:
- Week 2–3 of January (post-holiday lull, cheapest rates of the year)
- Week 2–3 of October (cooling off, post-hurricane-season stability)
- Week 2–3 of November (pre-Thanksgiving, mild weather, low demand)
- First half of December (before holiday travel, easy scheduling)
When you can’t be flexible
Most people can’t pick their move date — it’s tied to closings, leases, job start dates. Don’t stress about picking the “best” week. The single biggest money-saver is booking in advance: 4–6 weeks out locks in better pricing and better crews regardless of season.
